Re: Experiences of being in prison
I was actually only joking when I said lockdown was like being in prison.

I didn't have to worry about getting butt fucked whenever I had a shower...

Re: Experiences of being in prison
Nothing like it. You can open a window. You were allowed out for an hour a day and could walk in different directions with no imminent threat of danger or god knows what. Being banged up is a whole other world and it takes a certain kind of mind to to it..I wasn't up to it so it acted as a good deterrent on being released..it was nothing like lockdown lol. That would be similar experience to an open prison maybe.

Smasher,

Showers duly in cell, got it duly noted. I still think I will do my best to avoid doing time as I doubt I would adapt and cope like you have.

That comparison would make in relation to something Block said so What's your view on Blocks assertion that being under lockdown is like doing time?

Haller,

Got no words.

Being bang average, beige and favouring flight over fight suddenly doesn't seem so bad. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Experiences of being in prison
Not prison exactly but when I was in Nam, must have been 68, maybe 69, I got captured by the VC and spent eight months in a hole in the ground.

I was only let out so I could be beaten, raped, or interrogated, and lived on a diet of rice and worms.

Fucking brilliant weather though!

Re: Experiences of being in prison
As said way down below, I too had 23hr lock up.

Let me tell you the worst story I ever experienced.

So I had a cushy cell mate or so I thought. Going 18 yr old Portuguese fella who spent most days crying cos he had come to stay in England with his gran at 14 in London and he thought he was coming to be a pro footballer or try at least so my days were spent listening to him tell me how much he was gonna make it etc then crying when he realised the situation he was in..he told me he was in for fraud which he was but I had no reason to ask him the ins and outs of it. He had been put in with me cos they thought he may get a harsh ride and they knew I wasn't like that.. I kept myself to myself but could handle myself too. There was a few other hammers in for armed robbery and the like so neve felt like it would come on top.
Anyway this lad for weeks started to disintegrate mentally. He spilled his guts on his charge (he was on remand) which was basically his gran had a heart attack and died. He panicked and put her body in the loft and claimed benefits and all other monies, also using money from her account and writing cheques in her name etc for 3 years. Csnt remember what he was getting charged with but I did tell him not to count on seeing any training ground very soon. Anyway sadly, I woke one day to find he had somehow slashed his writs. Got to him.in time, pressed the bell and he was taken away..he DIDNT die I was later told and I always wonder what happened to him.
Spent the next 3 days on my own in the cell. Then one evening about 7ish my door is opened and this fucking Francis ngannou looking bloke was ushered in. Massive. Said nothing. Just emptied his bag on the floor, got on to the bottom bunk and lied there. Staring into space. I said alright mate but got no reply so thought ok fuck it, ill leave him to get his head around where he is..we can talk in morning. I had a nasty cough at time cos baccy was scarce and I was a heavy smoker so bit of a smokers cough.. it kept on niggling away. Im on my bunk and I remember him shouting up to stop coughing. I laughed thinking he was messing a bit..coughed again (couldn't stop) and he said something ipl never forget.. "if u cough again I will fucking kill you. I don't want your riggomortis" I said come on mate leave it out I can't help it, unless u got a ciggy"
With that a hand came up, pulled me off the bunk I fell straight to the floor, got a foot straight into my head and just recall curling up in a ball as I was literally pummeled. Dazed but not out of it completely, he was shouting im gonna kill you you germ spreader. He then picked me up, put me against the wall with a chair pressed against my neck. Pressuring my throat, I couldn't breathe. Thiught that was it to be honest. Managed to work my arm free and press the bell numerous times. What seemed like a life time, eventually screws turned up opened door and dragged him out and away. I was asked if I was OK. Couldnt talk.. was crying actually. Not loudly but weeping. It away fear..that bloke was so strong and caught me unaware I thought I was dead. I was taken to be checked out and told it was all superficial. Taken back to my cell in morning.
Got a visit form head screw who said that bloke should never have been put into general pop and that he was a nutcase but they had fucked his paperwork up. They apologised and that's why I got a news paper delivered every afternoon from.then on.
That week was horrendous. I upped my game regarding changing briefs and realising I was never gonna be banged up again.

Worded that a bit wrong. Meant it's not much of a charge.
